Explorer. I think there with them while they play, and make sure they are sitting on a couch or on the floor while playing, so if it does not fall under under your supervision, at least, will fall on something soft, or not to have too much a way to fall. ;) LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Learning Game toys Learning Game System Recharger

LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Camera and Video Recorder
Wow .... I'm surprised .. I bought it for [...] buck expect to just be a camera / camcorder with very limited educational value. What it has is a very cool alphabet "game" that you can customize to get your picture in the space ship to shoot the letters it says to shoot. (There is also a mathematical game, as well) It also records sound bytes and pretty good video (for $ 25!) What my 4 year old loves most is to do a "history book" with their own sound effects as the story continues. It is also possible to edit pictures with silly stamps, stretching and kaleidescope. (Other things it does is to make music videos, greeting cards, and it has all the images in an "album" ... it says it can hold 1000 pictures .. (I'm sure it's not if you had some movies recorded )
All in all, this is probably the best $ 25 I spent a long long time ...
LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Learning Game System (Pink)
We actually bought this (the green though) for my 5 years. old son and he loves it. As soon as my daughter got it (she is 3), caught her on directly. And of course she is a little guidance, but actually good. I liked the fact that you can use the stylus attached, or just use your finger (easier for young children) to make choices and play. We have plans to get her one for Christmas.
Reading in good time, I did not know the game came with it (even thought we had two leaplet short), so we bought Kai Lan Game and Toy Story 3 game. They have proven to be fun for both children. My son has not decided what to get online with leaplet short, so we have not tried them yet, but hope to soon.
I have never been disappointed with any Leapster questions we have and so far am not disappointed with Explorer either.

The charge station comes in handy and the battery lasts for about 3-5 days with about 3-6 hours of use each time so the last word on all 24-27 hours of use. The Leapster Explorer is a great new handheld educational system, it keeps my son busy and he learns a lot from this system. I would recommend this to anyone with children 3 years of age or older. They have lots of games to choose from, and online content, you can buy. They offer online applications, e-books, videos and other things. You can also play online and get personal pets and etc. I really like that I can see where my son excels and where he needs help. This is possible with the learning path software. This advanced system software can also allow you to customize the spelling list words and math problems, etc. This system is hands down the best educational device out there.

I've done a lot of research and read lots of reviews on this product before you buy. I was a little leary at first because many complained that get their, and it does not work at all, had to exchange it for another 3 times and the horror stories that connect to the Internet, etc. is also warning that it is fragile compared with the Leapster 2: a but with all this in mind, I went ahead and ordered one with the idea that if it does not work, then I will send it back. The company was very fast, I was not even expecting to get a couple of days and it arrived two days earlier than expected. Very safe packaging was not damaged, rattled or broken. I opened a package very carefully to avoid breaking the toy before I get to test them. I put batteries in the Leapster, turned it on, set the time, language, date, etc. So I'm connected to the Internet, it went much faster than I expected and I decided to download an eBook instead of a game, when I heard the games are not good quality and has too many ads for connecting to the Internet and buy more stuff. Downloadable, online and reading our new ebook went smoothly. So far we are very pleased. And a good advice to avoid the Explorer dropped and broken. Parental supervision goes a long way. And I'm not talking about just being in the same room with your child while playing the Explorer. I think there with them while they play, and make sure they are sitting on a couch or on the floor while playing, so if it does not fall under under your supervision, at least, will fall on something soft, or not to have too much a way to fall. ;)
Leap Frog Leapster2 Learning Game System
We took one leapt L-Max to leave work because of an "accident". Since our 3-year-old has loved and used the machine several times a day, we had to replace it. He had learned so much from previous reviews of the Leapster and V-Smile were poor, so we decided to go with another Leapster. When we went back and forth if we wanted an L-Max TV Play capability, or if we wanted online funcitonality of this new Leapster 2nd
We had to put some thought into the features, TV or online, we would use most. We decided that we really want to follow the learning progress online and for $ 10 less, we would have quite the feature. We have also decided to seek a Leapster TV system, which we found at a distance, to replace TV-play capability in the old L-Max, so that he could still use all the games on TV and still have two separate toys and develop motor function of two systems instead of one.
This new Leapster is so cute. The colors are fantastic, the shape is better than the old one, I think. The pen is secured by a thin fabric that string instead of a heavy electronic leash, so it is easier to maneuver and it does not look like it will break so easily. The sound is better and the screen is as good if not better. We are very pleased with this purchase, and our son likes it too. We have not tested other games yet, but his old works well as they should. I will defintitely recommend this model. I will also update the review when I have been using online features.
